Cost of corruption – death, injury, despair

The Korean government‘s state audit into the reasons behind the Sewol ferry tragedy in April has blamed government corruption and negligence SKorea flagfor the disaster. More than 300 people lost their lives when the ferry sank, eleven are still uncounted for.

The ferry was overloaded and the Korean Register of Shipping failed to carry out adequate safety checks, the audit found.

I will be following the news in The Korea Herald for updates on whether any individuals are prosecuted for corruption in this case.
